Why do they call monkey bread monkey bread?
According to Wikipedia, the origin of the term “monkey bread” comes from the pastry being a finger food; the consumer would pick apart the bread as a monkey would.
Do you have to use a bundt pan for monkey bread?
Nope! Sometimes, I use a 9-in. x 13-in. baking dish. You can use whatever baking pan you want – note that you may need to keep a closer eye on shallower pans because the biscuits may brown fast, while a deeper pan may take longer for the biscuits to cook all of the way through.
Does monkey bread freeze well?
Yes! After baking, allow the bread to cool completely before wrapping in plastic wrap then a layer of aluminum foil. For best results, use it within three months. Thaw the bread overnight in the fridge and reheat it before eating.
Can monkey bread be reheated?
Absolutely! It’s actually best when warm! You can microwave individual pieces in the microwave until warmed through.
For larger pieces or the whole thing, it’s best to reheat it in the oven. Make sure any plastic wrap is removed (if you had it in the freezer or refrigerator) and cover the loaf in aluminum foil. Reheat it in the oven on the lowest temperature you can set your oven to for about 20 minutes or until the bread is heated all of the way through.
