Air Fryer Dog Treats: Ingredients & Equipment
For this Air Fryer Dog Treats recipe, you will need …
Ingredients
- whole wheat flour – You can use all-purpose flour or wheat flour. Both are safe for dogs, especially since they’re being cooked.
- pumpkin puree – Be sure you are using 100% pure pumpkin and not pumpkin pie mix.
- peanut butter – It’s important that you only use natural peanut butter with no added sugar and zero xylitol. Xylitol is toxic to your furry friend, and added sugar can mess with their blood sugar. No need to chance that sort of thing. Natural peanut butter options are easy to find in just about any grocery store.
- eggs – I prefer to use large eggs.
Equipment
- measuring cups
- large mixing bowl
- rubber spatula or wooden spoon
- parchment paper
- rolling pin
- baking sheet
- bone or dog-themed cookie cutter
- air fryer
- spatula or tongs
- wire rack
Dog Treats: FAQs
If your air fryer doesn’t let you set it to 370, use 365 instead. If it doesn’t have that setting, use the next closest, as long as that option isn’t very far over the suggested temperature.
Each air fryer is shaped differently and can hold varying amounts. My air fryer is 4 quarts, but it’s great for holding 6-7 of these treats at a time due to its shape. If your air fryer doesn’t fit that many, that’s perfectly ok. Just add as many as it will hold and cook in batches.
Yes! You can make a smaller batch of these dog treats. Just cut the recipe in half.
If you need softer treats, keep the cooking time as listed. If you want a crunchy treat, increase your cook time by three minutes or until the dog treat has reached the right consistency. Be careful not to burn the treat.
Yes. It is important to note that these treats won’t cook the same as an oven treat. However, they can be cooked in an oven, if desired.
Recipe Notes
- Store the treats in an airtight container away from moisture and heat.
- It’s important that you only use natural peanut butter with no added sugar and zero xylitol. Xylitol is toxic to your furry friend, and added sugar can mess with their blood sugar. No need to take a chance on that sort of thing. Natural peanut butter options are easy to find in just about any grocery store.
- Be sure to not have extra parchment paper that goes up the walls of your air fryer. You want it to lay firm and flat in the bottom.

Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- ⅓ cup peanut butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs until thoroughly combined.
- Add in 1 cup of flour and stir until combined. Add in another cup of the flour and mix until a doughy mixture forms. Knead the dough by hand and add the remaining flour as needed until the dough reaches a soft but not sticky or crumbly consistency.
- Layout a large piece of parchment paper and sprinkle it lightly with flour before placing the dough onto the prepared surface.
- Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut out as many cookies as you can with your cookie cutter (I used the bone) and set the cutouts aside on a cookie sheet or similar dish.
- Line the bottom of your air fryer with parchment paper and place as many treats as you can, in the bottom, without them touching.
- Cook at 370°F for 4-5 minutes or until lightly browned on the top.
- Remove and transfer the treats to a wire rack and let them cool completely. Repeat until all treats are done.

Can you make the air fryer dog treats in a silicone mold instead of rolling them out?
