Grape Salad
It’s a summer romance of sweet and sour, creamy and tart … Creamy Grape Salad, y’all!!
While cream and grapes may not be your first thought when it comes to fruit salad, this Creamy Grape Salad is a perfect side dish or dessert to take on picnics and backyard pool parties. With its rich sweetness, it’s a refreshing partner for all those greasy, yummy barbeques and burgers.
You can serve this Creamy Grape Salad by itself or on a bed of lettuce for some extra crunch, or with cucumber sandwiches for a quick light picnic snack. While it may not last long in a fridge, it absolutely won’t take long to make or last long on the table either!
Salads don’t have to be boring. Sure, it’s an unusual fruit salad, but a yummy one, y’all! Enjoy!
Recipe for Grape Salad: Ingredients & Equipment
For this Creamy Grape Salad, you will need …
Ingredients
- cream cheese – remember to keep it softened at room temperature before mixing or it’ll leave your grape salad lumpy.
- sour cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract – these, alongside your cream cheese, make the salad’s delicious, creamy “dressing.”
- grapes – both green and red seedless.
- brown sugar, and chopped pecans – for sprinkling on top of the salad when it’s done.
Equipment
- mixing bowl – for putting all your ingredients together, of course!
Cream Cheese Grape Salad: FAQs
Just a few minutes to mix all the ingredients, and then 2 hours to chill the salad (important)!
It’ll depend entirely on portion size, but it should make enough for 18-24 or so small side dish servings. That means as I said, it’s a great recipe for a picnic or barbeque!
It’s best to make this just the day before serving at the very most, otherwise, the grapes will soften too much and leave a poor texture! This salad does, however, taste best when it’s chilled, so do leave some prep time. Ideally, you should try keeping it in the fridge for 2-3 hours before you’re ready to serve. Toppings like brown sugar and pecans should be placed just right before serving, though.
I wouldn’t! The salad may separate or get a weird texture if you do.
Yes! Pure sour cream or tart Greek yogurt are also good options if you’d like a less sweet alternative. Thicker yogurts are usually the best to pair with soft grapes. Lastly, for those with dietary restrictions, while vegan cream cheeses exist, another dairy-free and vegan option is to blend up tofu and use that instead. The silken tofu blocks are amazing on this salad, or so I’ve heard!
Try …
– Toasting the chopped pecans
– Breaking up cookies, oatmeal bars, and graham crackers as a topping
– Adding pieces of cake or French toast
– Chopping up candy into the salad for a sweet touch
– Using more fruit like pineapple cubes, diced apples, etc
– Giving your creamy grape salad a salty touch with shredded or cubed cheese
Skinning isn’t necessary at all, although I recommend cutting the grapes into smaller pieces if you’re serving the salad to little ones.
