No-Bake Eggnog Pie
For our Thanksgiving menu, I decided that I want to try an Eggnog Pie this year. And while doing my grocery shopping last week, I noticed my favorite brand of eggnog was out! I try to keep an eye out for it at this time of the year because it’s the best! I had to pick up two containers, one to drink and the other to make this No-Bake Eggnog Pie!
The test run of this Eggnog Pie was so good that I had to make it again to share with y’all, and I may just make it another time or two before the end of the year! I think I need more eggnog!
Did you know that you can freeze eggnog for up to 6 months?! So I may need to get a 6-month supply! 😉
If you’re looking for a quick and easy pie recipe that you can serve your family (and guests!) that doesn’t require you to turn the oven on and tastes just like the holidays, you’ve found your new favorite recipe. This recipe is like eggnog in pie form without any baking! What a dream!
Be sure to break this recipe out around the holidays … or if you’re like me, secretly store a lot of eggnog and make it all year round! Enjoy!
No Bake Eggnog Pie: Ingredients & Equipment
For this No Bake Eggnog Pie recipe, you will need …
Ingredients
- vanilla pudding mix and eggnog – you’ll beat these two together to make the base of your pie filling.
- whipped topping – this goes into your filling as well, making it nice and fluffy! You’ll want some additional whipped topping to go on your pie at the end, too. This can be store-bought (you can use Cool Whip, for example) or homemade.
- graham cracker pie crust – the tasty, tasty crust for your Eggnog Pie. Self-explanatory!
- ground nutmeg – a sprinkle of nutmeg on top of your Eggnog Pie is heavenly.
Equipment
- large mixing bowl – where you’ll mix all your ingredients!
No-Bake Eggnog Pie: FAQs
Any kind/brand you like, although make sure it’s full-fat. You won’t get the right consistency or texture if you use low-fat eggnog.
I don’t see why not! Experiment with it, and let me know how it goes!
Oh, absolutely! Keep it away from the kids, but adding brandy or another tasty bit of booze is certainly possible.
Sure! Once again, I don’t see why not. Let me know in the comments how it works out for you because I love filing away this info for later.
Use instant mix for this pie (and any other no-bake pie, really). Don’t use the stovetop “cook and serve” kind.
Like most no-bake pies, it seems like it’ll take a while – my recipe lists 4ish hours. However, only 5-10 minutes of that is actual prep. The rest is patiently waiting for the pie to chill in the fridge! So it’s very low effort.
About 6-8 slices! Perfect for the whole family.
Yes, and the longer you chill the pie, the thicker it will get. Don’t skip this step – it’s important for a no-bake pie!

No-Bake Eggnog Pie
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla instant pudding 3.4 oz
- 1 ¾ cups cold prepared eggnog
- 1 cup frozen whipped topping thawed
- 1 graham cracker pie crust
- additional frozen whipped topping thawed, for serving (optional)
- ground nutmeg for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl with a hand-held mixer, beat the pudding mix with eggnog for 2 minutes. The pudding mixture should thicken slightly. Gently fold in 1 cup of whipped topping until just combined. Spoon the mixture into the pie crust.
- Refrigerate the pie for at least four hours.
- To serve, place a dollop of whipped topping and a sprinkle of nutmeg on each serving.
Notes
- Make sure you use full-fat eggnog. You may not get the right consistency or texture if you use low-fat eggnog.
- Make an adult version by adding some brandy or other booze to your pie filling.
- If you prefer a pastry pie crust, you can use that instead. It will need to be blind-baked and cooled before being filled.

Just made this and it's in the fridge now for Christmas dinner tomorrow. I licked the spoon and it was so good! Thanks for sharing this recipe, it's so easy!!
Brittney
On the vanilla pudding, do youh make it as the package says and then add the egg nog or just add the package to the egg nog? It’s been 4 or 5 hours and mine isn’t setting m. Thanks!
Jamie
You add the eggnog to the pudding in place of the milk. I hope that helps.
Cyndi
Can you use sugar free pudding instead?
Natalie
YUM! It looks delicious! ♥

Hey Jamie, I link this no-bake version to my baked version in my post going live on 12-10. Please let me know if that is no okay and I’ll remove it.

Was so excited to make this pie for one of my Christmas parties. Licked the spoon afterwards and it was delish! The pie never set, even after placing in the freezer late last night. Woke up this morning to the realization that the alcohol in my eggnog (yes I only had spiked eggnog) is what must have kept it from setting. Oh well, will enjoy spooning out sections and eating this tasty non pie.

Spike the whipped cream on top!!!

What size cracker crust do you get I got the bigger one is that ok or should I have gotten the normal size one
John B.
I was lazy and bought the premade crust. Got the two extra slices size. Due to that I increased the eggnog to 2 full cups and added a bit more topping. It filled the shell perfectly. I imagine that s written it would do a smaller 8-inch diameter pie crust. It’s chilling now. I licked the spoon and it is indeed good. I imagine this could also be served up in pudding cups with a sprinkle of crushed graham crackers or even ginger snaps.

I plan to use your recipe in recreating a favorite holiday dessert from my mom’s childhood–charlotte rousse. Your photos look great. Do the slices really stand nice and firm when cut as shown in your photos? The charlotte is made in a springform pan. You stand soft lady finger cookies around the edge and then fill the center with egg nog mousse (I’m going to substitute your pie recipe). Ideally, you remove the spring form pan, and the dessert should stand nicely on its own, with the lady fingers around the outer edge? Do you think this pie is firm enough to do that once set?

Can this pie be made ahead of time and frozen?
martha
what do you mean by frozen whipped topping? just cool whip?

Thank you so much I love this pie. 1st time I made it I used my younger brother and his family as Guinea Pigs. They loved it, so now making it for Thanksgiving at my older brother. Only thing I did differently was I use heavy whipping cream.

Dang, Girl! I’m trying to cut some Christmas Holiday Calories! This looks so yummy, I’m going to have to make this tomorrow and cut those calories next week!

What else would be good to sprinkle besides notmeg.
Ross Bowman
I’ve heard of people using the cream cheese instant pudding as well…
Pete
Try this.. Get a little bit of ginger bread and either place a triangle or small Ginger bread person on top.. It goes SO great with the pie and gives a different bite to enhance (add to) the experience..
Abbey Gleichenhaus
Easy to make and so good! Will make every holiday season!
Sandy
I tried it. The flavor was good but the texture was very soft ( not firm as pictured). We froze the rest and enjoyed it that way. I wonder if I had low fat eggnog.
