Strawberry Buttercream: Ingredients & Equipment
To make this Strawberry Buttercream Frosting, you will need …
Ingredients
- butter – make sure it’s at room temperature. You can use either salted or unsalted. I usually have salted butter on hand, so that’s what I usually use.
- powdered sugar – sometimes known as confectioners’ sugar.
- chopped fresh strawberries with their juices – this is what will give the buttercream all of its fruit strawberry flavors!
Equipment
- large mixing bowl and electric mixer – to mix your buttercream, of course! You can use a stand mixer or a hand-held mixer for this recipe.
- rubber spatula – sometimes called a silicone spatula, to scrape down the edges of your bowl and to transfer your frosting into a piping bag or container (if using)
How to make Strawberry Buttercream Frosting
Cream the butter. Start by placing the butter in a large mixing bowl and beating it with an electric mixer until creamy.
Add the sugar and strawberries. Stop the machine and add in the powdered sugar and strawberries. Then, beat on low until the mixture is creamy and well combined. If the frosting is too thick, add more strawberries until desired consistency is reached. If the frosting is too thin, add more powdered sugar until desired consistency is reached.
Frost your cake. Use this buttercream frosting to frost your choice of cake, cupcakes, or other baked goods.
