When it comes to a quick snack idea, these awesomely addictive Barbecued Peanuts knock it out of the park with how easy they are to make!
Barbecue Peanuts
Y’all, we are about to enter finger food season. You didn’t know finger food season is a thing?! Between all of the holidays, parties, and game-day food, I’m pretty sure there is a finger food season. I’m just sayin’.
The great thing about finger food season is, you can eat little bits of lots of different foods and call it a meal! I don’t know about y’all, but I love finger food – chicken wings, chips with dips, muddy buddies, veggie trays, smokies wrapped in bacon, popcorn ….. seriously, what’s not to love?!
These Barbecued Peanuts will make a great addition to all of your parties, holiday tables, and game-day festivities. Plus, they’re a great anytime snack – so you don’t even have to have an excuse or a party! ๐
This simple recipe combines your favorite nuts along with an egg white and plenty of kicking spices. A quick mix before spreading it out onto a baking sheet and baking them before laying them out on wax paper to cool. So simple.
Let’s see how to make them …
Are peanuts keto friendly
That depends on who you ask! Peanuts are technically legumes, not nuts. This makes them more closely related to beans and lentils. Depending on your diet, they may be a part of your low-carb snacks.
Looking only at carbs, peanuts come in with around 6 grams of carbs per one ounce. Subtract about 2 grams of fiber, and you will have about 4 grams of net carbs per ounce of peanuts. I’ll leave that up to you to decide if that fits into your macros.
As this recipe is written – it is NOT keto. However, you can easily make this Barbecued Peanuts recipe lower-carb by substituting a keto-friendly brown sugar substitute and using dry roasted peanuts instead.
How to make Barbecued Peanuts
- Preheat the oven to 325ยฐF. Grease a large baking sheet and set it aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, butter, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the peanuts and stir well, coating the peanuts evenly with the mixture.
- Transfer the peanuts to the baking sheet and arrange peanuts in a single layer. (A good jiggle usually does the trick!)
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
- After the bake time, spread the peanuts evenly on waxed paper to cool. Allow the peanuts to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
Barbecued Peanuts FAQs
Sure! Use whatever kinds of nuts you prefer. You’ll still want to use about 1 lb. or 16 ounces of nuts.
Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
Recipe Tips
- Feel free to play with or adjust the spices to your taste.
- If your nuts are not fully crisp after the roasting time, that’s okay! They’ll crisp up as they cool off.
- Don’t skip the egg wash – that’s what will make them oh so crunchy and addictively delicious as it holds in all of the flavors!
